Florida is where most American world cruises start. In 2019 this page listed Holland America's Grand World Voyage on ms Amsterdam: 115 days round trip from Fort Lauderdale, sailing on 5 January 2019, with fares from US$22,900. Holland America still sails it, and four more lines now leave from Fort Lauderdale or Miami.

Holland America: Grand World Voyage

Volendam leaves Fort Lauderdale on 5 January 2027 and comes back 129 days later, after 53 ports in 28 countries on six continents. It goes down the west coast of South America to Easter Island, across the South Pacific to Australia, through Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand to Sri Lanka, round the southern tip of Africa and up the Atlantic by way of St. Helena, Ascension Island and West Africa to France and Denmark, then home across the Atlantic. There are overnight stays in Callao (for Lima), Papeete, Sydney, Bali, Cape Town, Bordeaux and Copenhagen.

The 2028 voyage is again on Volendam and again 129 days round trip, leaving on 4 January 2028 on a different route: south along the east coast of South America to Antarctica, north through the Beagle Channel and the Chilean fjords, then across the Pacific by Easter Island and Bora Bora to New Zealand and Australia, and home by way of Africa. It also sails past Null Island, the point in the Atlantic where the Equator meets the Prime Meridian.

Holland America's world voyage page shows no base fare. It does offer up to US$10,700 in credits and extras on 2028 bookings made by 14 June 2027.

Oceania: 180 days from Miami

Oceania's Vista, a 1,200-guest ship, leaves Miami on 6 January 2027 for 180 days and finishes in London after more than 100 ports in 46 countries. When it went on sale in March 2025 the fare started at US$76,199 a person, with a choice of free drinks or a shore excursion credit. Oceania also sold a 244-day version from Miami to New York and a 127-day one from Miami to Doha.

For 2028 the voyage moves to Oceania Aurelia, a ship the line is introducing in late 2027. It leaves Miami on 18 January 2028 and takes 180 days to reach New York, through the Panama Canal, across the Pacific to Asia and, near the end, three weeks in the Mediterranean.

Regent Seven Seas: Miami to New York

Seven Seas Splendor leaves Miami on 11 January 2027 and reaches New York 140 nights later, after 71 ports in 40 countries. The fare includes everything, from US$91,499 a person in a veranda suite up to $839,999 in the Regent Suite. You can also sail the first 126 nights, Miami to Rome (Civitavecchia), from $84,999.

Regent's 2028 world cruise starts in Los Angeles instead. It is on our California page.

Viking: Fort Lauderdale to London

The Viking World Cruise takes 142 days from Fort Lauderdale to London (Greenwich), with 62 guided tours in 31 countries. It leaves on 22 December 2026, on 28 December 2027 aboard Viking Vesta (arriving in London on 18 May 2028) and on 21 December 2028. In September 2026 Viking's site listed it from US$65,999 a person, with business class flights included on the offer running then. Viking World Voyage III follows the same route and carries on round Northern Europe to Stockholm: 170 days, from $82,999.

Princess: round the Pacific

Princess calls its 2027 trip a World Cruise, but it is a Grand Circle Pacific. Coral Princess leaves Fort Lauderdale on 6 January 2027 and ends in Los Angeles 129 days later, with 61 destinations in 20 countries on three continents.

Getting there and home

Only Holland America brings you back to where you started. Viking and Oceania's 2027 voyage finish in London, Regent and Oceania's 2028 voyage in New York, and Princess in Los Angeles, so you need a one-way flight home from the far end. AirTreks can put the flight out to Florida and the flight home from the last port on one ticket.
